What is TopCoinIndex?
TopCoinIndex is a cryptocurrency market-data platform that displays real-time prices, market capitalization, volume, charts, and other key metrics for thousands of cryptocurrencies from multiple data providers.
How do you calculate cryptocurrency prices?
Prices shown on TopCoinIndex are aggregated from third-party APIs. The final displayed price depends on how those providers calculate weighted averages from active exchanges.
What is market capitalization and how is it determined?
Market capitalization (market cap) = current price × circulating supply. Circulating supply, total supply, and max supply are based on data delivered by our external API sources.
Why do circulating, total, and max supply differ?
These values differ depending on tokenomics. Some coins have locked, reserved, or unreleased supply. All supply information on TopCoinIndex comes directly from our API provider.
Why do some coins show incomplete or missing data?
We don’t use “?” placeholders. If a project has incomplete data, that means our API source hasn’t provided those values yet, or the project hasn’t published verifiable supply information. We simply display whatever data our provider makes available.
What is the difference between a coin and a token?
Coin: Runs on its own blockchain (e.g., Bitcoin, Litecoin). Token: Runs on another blockchain’s infrastructure (e.g., ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum).
How do you decide which cryptocurrencies appear on TopCoinIndex?
Listings are not manually curated by us. Coins and tokens that appear on TopCoinIndex are entirely based on the data provided by our external API sources. If an asset exists in the API feed, we display it.
Why might some exchanges or markets be missing from the displayed price or volume?
Because we rely on external APIs, any missing exchange or market likely means: It is not included by the API provider, It fails their data-quality checks, or It has insufficient verified volume.
Does TopCoinIndex allow users to trade or buy crypto?
No. TopCoinIndex does not offer trading, buying, or selling. We are a data aggregator only. To trade crypto, use a licensed exchange.
What time zone is used for all price and market data?
TopCoinIndex follows UTC time, unless otherwise specified.
When is the 24-hour price change calculated?
The 24-hour % change is a rolling calculation — it compares the current price to the price 24 hours earlier, based on the timestamp from our data provider.
Why do price values differ compared to other crypto websites?
Different platforms use different: Data providers, Exchange sources, Liquidity weighting, Calculation formulas. This can cause small differences in displayed prices.
Does TopCoinIndex provide an API?
Not at the moment. We currently use third-party market-data APIs, and we don’t provide our own public API for external use.
